If you are looking for complete information on the Florida Keys in one combined volume then look no further. This guide is a colorfully written, educational and informative tool for boaters, divers, students and tourists alike. While the "revised edition" brings the guide up to date with regard to obvious major features -- like the closure of Indian Channel drawbridge and the replacement of the Seven Mile Bridge -- there are still glaring anachronisms. Much of the general advice is out of date and irrelevant to cruisers using a GPS and modern navigational techniques. It is no longer necessary to sail for the Bahamas at night in order to see the glow of the far-off lights as a navigational reference, and we no longer toss out marker buoys behind us so we can back out of a doubtful channel safely.The book also suffers from being anecdotal rather than comprehensive in its treatment of the area. A handful of destinations and marinas are called out and it's not clear that they are either representative or the best.Like many printed books repurposed for Kindle, the images are poor quality and too small. As these are annotated charts of the area, detail is important, and it is a nuisance to have to increase the text size multiple times to get a usable image. I tried two different reading platforms.These defects aside, the guide provides a useful general orientation and provides background and context that I found useful for interpreting charts of the area and contemplating the possibility of a voyage. However, I am confident that there are better guides available and would encourage other readers to keep shopping.
